Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Virtual Assistant (VA)?

A VA is a professional, self-employed person providing support to other small to medium businesses.  They usually work remotely from their own workplace, rather than on-site with their clients.

Why should I hire a VA?

Running a business involves many different tasks, like administration, sales and marketing, financial management, social media management etc.  And this is all before you get to the core of your business that actually makes you the money.
Take for example a designer – by the time they’ve checked their emails, met with clients, spent some time on social media… they’re lucky if there’s even a couple of hours left over in the day to actually design things.
You didn’t start a business to barely spend any time doing the thing you love. So a VA will take care of those everyday tasks involved in running your business, letting you spend more time on what you do best.

How do I know if you’re the right VA for me?

Before I start working with a new client, I offer a free, no-obligation Discovery Call. This is a short (typically up to 30 minutes) chat over Zoom where we can get to know each other and talk about the challenges your business is facing, your goals and how I could support you.

I’m not located in the UK, can you still help me?

I love being a virtual assistant because I have my own workplace and create my own schedule, so I can help anyone who needs me, whether you’re based in the same town as me, or on the other side of the world.

Do I have to own a businesses to hire a VA?

No, admin is admin, so individuals can benefit from a virtual assistant too. If you need help with life/personal admin, I can do things like making appointments and sending reminders, so you don’t miss them, planning and booking travel or events, and much, much more.

Which tasks can I delegate to a VA?

Whatever you need to, but different VAs specialise in different things. For example, my background is in admin, so I provide a lot of administrative support, including inbox and diary management, plus some social media and marketing support.

Why would I have someone do engagement for me on social media?

I would spend time learning your style, voice, brand and how you interact with your audience before taking over the management of your social media.
We would need to chat and discuss what is required and I would ask you to answer a variety of written questions.
We would work together to make it authentic.

How do we communicate and work together?

Most of my contact is via email, but some clients prefer What’s app.  We can decide the best method at the start.

How quickly will my tasks be completed?

I usually ask for at least 3 business day’s notice of any work needed (or more preferably). I usually work Monday to Friday, 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.  If something is required urgently, then I may need to charge extra for unsocial hours work.  The number of hours worked and the fees is subject to review periodically.  We will negotiate with you the amount of work, the schedule and the number of hours/fees before I start.

Will I be tied to a contract?

You will receive a contract along with your invoice, based on the discovery call and other information I have gathered.  I will invoice at the start of each month, with 7 days to pay. I usually ask for a month’s notice to terminate, to give me time to onboard a new client.

How much will this cost?

The cost depends on the level of support you need, as I can tailor my packages to your requirements.

Can I afford a VA?

If an hour of your time is worth more than my VA hourly rate, I will actually help to save you money. By taking care of those essential admin tasks I will free up your time for more enjoyable – and more profitable – parts of your business.
And because I’m an independent contractor, you don’t have to pay National Insurance, pension contributions, holiday pay, sick days… and all the other expenses that come with having employees. It’s a really affordable way to get the support you need.

How do I get started?

Get in touch via my contacts page and we will book in a Discovery Call.  It’s a free 30 minute Zoom call (video or audio – your preference).
